To Join the Club:

The Glee Club welcomes new members. Some of our members have sung in college glee clubs, some sing in church choirs, and many have had no previous group-singing experience. While the ability to read music is helpful, the only requirement for membership is being able to sing on pitch and to learn one's part in rehearsal. Membership dues are fifty dollars a year, payable in two installments. Contact us at the address below to arrange for an audition.

Our Director:

Since 1998, the Rev. Robert G. Sonnenberg has been conductor of the Male Glee Club of Yonkers. He succeeds the late Dr. C. Andrew Randall, who led the Club for twenty-five years, and arranged many of the selections in our musical library. Rev. Sonnenberg, the pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church in Richmond Hill, Queens, founded the Queens Lutheran Coalition Choir (now the Sacred Music Chorale) over fifteen years ago, and is its musical director. He also has conducted the Bremervoerder Chorus of Franklin Square since 1988, as well as the Kolping Chorus in New York, and was the chorus director of the Mount Vernon Musical Theater. He has a Masters Degree in Music, and has studied with Jens Nygaard, of the Jupiter Symphony in New York City.

Our Accompanist:

Larry Bibb has been our accompanist since the 2000 - 2001 concert season. Larry is a graduate of the Mount Vernon public schools and the State University of New York at Potsdam. He is a music teacher at Lincoln Elementary School, and organist and choir director at First United Methodist Church. both in Mount Vernon, and has taught piano in Westchester and the Bronx for more than thirty years. From 1988 to 1992, Larry served as the rehearsal accompanist of the Mount Vernon Music Theater under the direction of the late Dr. ("Doc") C. Andrew Randall. In addition, Larry has accompanied many singers, and performed in concerts, church programs, weddings, and funerals, throughout the New York metropolitan region. Larry is a member of the Westchester County School Music Association, and served as coordinator of the Elementary All-County Festival in 2000 and 2001.

Support for the Club:

We wish to thank the City of Yonkers and our Associate Members and Patrons for their generous support and encouragement over the years. Friends may join as Associate Members for fifteen dollars a year. Patrons are those persons or organizations who contribute thirty dollars or more. Patrons and Associate Members receive invitations to our Fall and Spring concerts, have their names printed in our concert programs, and are invited to attend "afterglows," rehearsals, and special Glee Club events.

We are also indebted to the the Yonkers Bureau of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation and the Yonkers Board of Education for making available to us facilities for our concerts and rehearsals.
