| The first rehearsal was held on September 22, 1926, when a total membership of fifty-five men met under the direction of Clifford Dinsmore. Mr. Dinsmore served as conductor for thirty-four years, greatly distinguishing both himself and the Glee Club. The first concert was held on December 1, 1926, and the local press commented, "...from a musical standpoint the evening was a treat which delighted the audience of music lovers..."
In 1928, the Club participated in a massed chorus at Madison Square Garden, and tied for third place in the National Competition, a great honor for a club only two years old. In the following years, four silver cups, representing the highest musical award in the County, were won at the Westchester County Festivals. As a result of these awards and recognition, the Club was invited to appear on national radio: three times on the CBS network, and twice on WOR. A high point during those years was an appearance as guest club with the Scola Cantorum under Hugh Ross at Carnegie Hall, participating in the first American performance of Tasso's "Rinaldo" in German.
Over the years, the Club has taken part in many important public events. Among these was a performance at the celebration of the three hundredth anniversary of the founding of the City of Yonkers, the 1939 and 1964 New York World's Fairs, and the Christmas concert at Alice Tully Hall of Lincoln Center. In 1982, the Club hosted nine other men's glee clubs rom New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Ontario at a "Big Sing" sponsored by the Associated Glee Clubs of Greater New York. In recent years, the Club has performed at Yonkers City Hall; at the Christmas tree lighting in Getty Square, Yonkers; Independence Day ceremonies in Mount Vernon; and at meetings of clubs and organizations in the Westchester area. In addition, the Club often entertains residents of area nursing homes and retirement residences.
